A Response to Fitna
If this post is really my response to “Fitna”, I would agree if you’d say that it’s a late reply. But it is not. This post is taken from HAhmed.com, who posted it just one day after the publishing of the “Fitna” film. I found the message is truly profound, and really does reflect the true teachings and principles hold by most muslims. Read this post and view the video as if you are listening to me talking to you, as if you are listening to any true muslim talking to you. I post this now for my fellow muslims to remember what we have been taught. But especially, this post is for my non-muslim friends and anyone out there who might somehow stumble across this blog. The world will surely get better, if we would just get to know one another. Salam.

Dutch Politician Geert Wilders film ‘Fitna’ was released on the web yesterday. It is basically a 15 minute film with selections of Suras from the Qur’an, interspersed with newspaper clippings and media clips. It basically tries to show the Qur’an as a book of violence, intolerance, anti-semitism, and essentially, Islam as a religion of terror and like Nazism.
Thankfully, the Dutch Government, and most other organizations including the European Union have rejected the film. As Muslims, it is easy to get riled up and angry over the film – for it is indeed filled with hate and lies and we all reject the accusations made in the film. Yes, there is a tiny segment of the Muslim community that does use Islam to ignite hate and terror. And yes, anti-semitism does exist in parts of the Muslim world – but I vehemently condemn it, as do over a billion Muslims and all mainstream Muslim scholars and organizations across the world.
Nonetheless, lets use this opportunity to help show our non-Muslim brethren the truth of the Qur’an and the beauty of Islam. If people have questions regarding the verses cited – we should all be able to explain the context of the verses.
Finally, I would like to share the following video clip of Brother Moez Masood responding to the film:

I have heard angry and passioned rebukes of the film from Muslim public and scholars in our own country, but Moez Masood sums up the most basic and original teachings of Islam by his attitude towards the issue. Muslims will continue to be provoked on many fronts – one of them is on the basis of political convenience. It is up to us to choose our battles wisely.

Yes, you can only save as source if u hv the pro edition of quicktime. If that’s the case, instead of left-clicking the link, right-click on it and select “Save link as..” or “Save target as..”
